Top Ten Books I’d Give To Readers Who Have Never Read X

I am assuming they asked me for a recommendation about X, not that they’ve never been interested in X and I’m trying to hook them.

The first 10 that came to my mind. I would recommend…

Goodnight Mr Tom by Michelle Magorian (if they’ve never read historical fiction).

Ash by Malinda Lo (if they’ve never read queer YA fantasy.)

Dewey the Library Cat by Vicki Myron (if they’ve never read pet non-fiction).

Arrows of the Queen by Mercedes Lackey (if they’ve never read Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar books).

Point of Hopes by Melissa Scott (if they are a mystery reader and have never read fantasy and/or queer fiction).

The Deathly Hallows Lectures by John Granger (if they’ve never read Harry Potter literary criticism).

Above Temptation by  Karin Kallmaker (if they’ve never read lesbian romance – and if they are actually bi/lesbian/female-identified and into women).

Enchanted Glass by Diana Wynne Jones  (if they’ve never read Diana Wynne Jones).

Quicksilver by R J Anderson (if they’ve never read about an asexual character).

Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger (if they’ve never read steampunk).
